Wyman Helped Elect the Georgia Secretary of State, Her Silence Now Is Deafening

Wyman-led group donated $10,500 to Brad Raffensperger campaign for Georgia Secretary of State

SEATTLE, WA – In 2018, Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman helped to elect Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s top elections official. Wyman was chairman of a Republican organization that donated $10,500, through two contributions, to Raffensperger’s campaign.

Georgia Republicans have long run on a platform of voter ‘fraud’ to disguise their attacks on the democratic rights of minority voters. Georgia’s primary election on Tuesday—characterized by malfunctioning machines, long lines, and ballot shortages—was a debacle that deprived thousands of Georgians of their right to be heard.

Wyman should condemn Raffensperger’s performance and the widespread voter suppression tactics employed by Georgia Republicans. The chief duty of a Secretary of State is to ensure that every voter’s voice is heard, and Raffensperger failed badly.

State Rep. Gael Tarleton, D-Seattle, and candidate for Washington Secretary of State issued the following statement:

“What happened in Georgia on Tuesday is unacceptable, and it is a dangerous warning of what will come in November. Washington’s Secretary of State should be setting the standard across the country of what responsible leadership looks like—not helping Trump Republicans make a travesty of our democratic rights.”
